New Beginnings Ministry is a 10 month, residential, Christ Centered recovery program for women who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Our rehabilitation facility is located in the beautiful countryside of Northeast GA. You can escape the rapid pace of city living and retreat to a calm and peaceful place of refuge during this season of your personal recovery. Our facility accommodates approximately 67 women at full capacity.

Thousands of people enter addiction treatment centers and programs each year, only to relapse and return to alcohol or drug use. Many who have failed at traditional 12 step treatment programs find lasting sobriety with New Beginnings proven method of treatment

Addiction is a bio-psycho-social common pathway disease and the solution is spiritual. The truth is that what an addict needs is long term treatment, a soul change and a fresh start. We offer all three elements through our program. Our clients begin their spiritual journey once they walk through the doors of our center. It is proven fact that faith based addiction rehabilitation centers have a sustainable higher success rate.

Our goal is to individualize a treatment plan for each woman and she will begin to move from Level to Level on a practical level as well as spiritual.

The recovery program is based on a Level system, which allows certain privileges, as well as responsibilities (more details are discussed in our Program Services section).

We are staffed 24 hours daily, 7 days per week. All clients are closely supervised at 'all' times. New Beginning's goal is not to partner with our clients for the short term (10 months). We are here to mentor, encourage and inspire for as long as it takes. We offer 'unlimited' program participation. Once our client's graduate, we provide private housing for them here on our property. We encourage family reunification and we celebrate each opportunity to provide homes for women who are reunited with their children. Women are encouraged to rebuild and restart their lives after addiction. Understanding the challenges that may come along with that concept (prison records, poor credit history, unstable employment) we go the extra mile to meet our client's needs right where they are. Offering graduate housing as well as family housing encourages the women to stay connected and plugged into our treatment facility and it enables them to truly experience a 'New Beginning' as a sober, productive member of society.

History
Director Sharon Thompson founded new Beginnings Ministry, Inc. in 1997. This ministry was birthed out of Ms. Thompson's desire to see other women who struggled, become totally set free and delivered from the bondage of addiction. Ms. Thompson knows first-hand how devastating and ravaging the world of addiction can become. She herself was once addicted to both drugs and alcohol for over 18 years, but 'today' she has been clean and sober for 24 years 'without relapse'. Ms. Thompson attributes her ability to live a sober and productive life to the love and freedom she found in Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. Without the foundation of Jesus Christ, Ms. Thompson believes that she would not have found this 'New Life' that she has today. Christ is the center of her life and she wants to share that same love with other broken, hurting, hopeless women.

After becoming born again, Ms. Thompson would often minister at the local jails. One day she had the revelation that although she was ministering the love of Christ to the hearts of the women who were addicted to drugs and alcohol, she was not offering them any ÒpracticalÓ help once they were released from jail. This began the origin of New Beginnings. Ms. Thompson began moving women into her home one by one. She would cook for them, love them, teach them who they were in Christ, comfort them through withdrawals and cravings, impart strong work ethics, wake up and do it all over again the next day.

So from the meager beginnings of one woman with a vision and one woman with an addiction, the ministry has become 4 graduate homes, 1 home for women and children, three fully staffed dormitories (accommodating 44 beds) and now planning to develop the 3 acres across the street into duplex housing for families.

Although Ms. Thompson lives in very close proximity to the ministry and is very hands on in her approach, she never tires of the tremendous call on her life to help the broken and downtrodden women that society has given up on.

Ms. Thompson is an ordained minister and has a Masters in counseling. She works closely with staff and clients daily to continue to develop the ministry and expand its horizons to reach a larger population of women who are addicted and without hope.
